Together we can provide cleaner air and better quality of life to people and communities.

Apply for a Grant of CR Box Supplies

We give preference to those groups serving underserved communities, especially schools in impoverished areas. We may either provide materials or funds for Corsi-Rosenthal Box materials. We do not provide labor.

Applying for a grant from the Corsi-Rosenthal Foundation can deliver clean indoor air to those in need within your community. Please read through the 7-Step Roadmap to Cleaner Indoor Air below to understand how our grant process works, and ensure we are the right fit for your clean air needs.

Identify WHO needs access to cleaner indoor air?
(school children, nursing home residents, etc.)
The CR Foundation prioritizes grants that support people in under-resourced areas and those at greater risk from poor indoor air quality. We are unable to approve single box grants for individuals at this time.

Identify WHERE the Corsi-Rosenthal Boxes be placed?
(school classrooms, library, homeless shelter, etc.)

Identify HOW many Corsi-Rosenthal Boxes are needed to make meaningful change and start a local movement. Depending on available funds and supplies within the CR Foundation, we will sometimes provide a partial grant to help get the work started and inspire future local action.

Identify WHO in a leadership position can give permission for the donation of Corsi-Rosenthal Boxes. We have found that getting buy-in and permission from school or building administration is crucial for getting Corsi-Rosenthal boxes placed and utilized.
(principal, facilities director, etc.)
We have crafted a sample email (check your downloads folder after clicking) you can edit to request permission to receive donated Corsi-Rosenthal Boxes.

The grant application (below) is a simple form to communicate to our Grants Committee the need and intended benefits to your community by receiving supplies to build Corsi-Rosenthal boxes. Once received, our Grants Committee will review your application and make a decision to approve the grant (full or partial) or not.
If approved, you will receive an email within 1-4 weeks of submitting your grant application requesting you fill out a form to confirm the shipping address for supplies. (We strongly recommend you have supplies shipped to the location where you will build. Ideally, this will be the same location where the Corsi-Rosenthal Boxes will be distributed.) We will ship supplies to you within a week of approving your grant application.
  • General instructions to build a Corsi-Rosenthal Box can be found here.
  • If you are doing a “Big Build” (usually more than 5 boxes and involving a group of builders), see our suggested tips for a successful Big Build here.

One of the simplest ways to track the impact of your newly built Corsi-Rosenthal Box is to track levels of particulate matter 2.5. PM2.5 refers to fine inhalable particles with a diameter of 2.5 microns or less. These particles are a significant component of air pollution and pose serious health risks due to its ability to penetrate deep into the lungs and even enter the bloodstream. Use a particle counter to track the levels of PM2.5 in an indoor space, then turn on your Corsi-Rosenthal Box and watch those levels plummet. For a more detailed outline of how to measure impact with a particle counter, check out our lesson plans.
We hope you document your journey along the way, and share your story with us and the rest of the world. The clean indoor air movement is powered by data, science, and stories. So, take pictures and videos of building, distributing, decorating, and using your new Corsi-Rosenthal Boxes. Share them with us, on social media, and with any media outlets you have contacts with. We’ll be checking in with you periodically to hear how things are going and offer continued support.
